Planned Furniture Promotions, Inc. Charitable Foundation Golf Tournament
raises over $340,000 for Children’s Charities
Enfield, CT - August 12, 2008 - Planned Furniture Promotions, Inc. (PFP), along with Bob’s Discount Furniture, raised over $340,000 for various charitable foundations during PFP’s August 5th annual Charitable Foundation Golf Outing and Dinner held at the Farmington Club and Tunxis Plantation in Farmington, CT. The annual event benefits children's charities that include The Jimmy Fund, Camp Rising Sun and Connecticut Children's Medical Center (CCMC).
As part of the event, live and silent auctions were also held and produced a total of $71,000. Part of the live auction funds came in an impromptu act of giving as Roy Hester, Vice President of Sales for PFP won a live auction bid on several autographed baseballs that were donated to the Foundation by a child with cancer. Hester, upon winning the memorabilia, donated the baseballs back to the child who donated them.
"No charitable event can be a success without the generosity and support of its donors. Our event is no exception," Hester said. "Thanks to the unmatched contributions of our supporters, the children who require assistance and vital programs to help them thrive will get what they need."
Over 200 people enjoyed the golf portion of the event while nearly 350 attended the dinner that evening.
Also during the event, Bob Kaufman of Bob’s Discount Furniture presented checks totaling $250,000 to children’s charities: $20,000 to the Scott Mulready Foundation at the Connecticut Children's Medical Center. $60,000 to the Jimmy Fund, $70,000 to Family & Children’s Aid and $100,000 to American Cancer Society's Camp Rising Sun Charitable Foundation.
